Studies: 1967, Diploma in Fine Art from Orange Free State Technical College Hardy Botha's trained under Prof. Mike Edwards in Bloemfontein (1964-67). 1979/80 showed Botha studying for a post graduate diploma course at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town.

Profile: Scenery designer for a circus where he also worked as a clown. Moved to Capab, in Cape Town, as a décor painter.
Took lecturing post at the Stellenbosch University Fine Arts Dept. until 1991. In 1987 formed part of a controversial group of South Africans that met with the ANC in Dakar. The same year, together with Jan Visser, Botha initiated the Dal Josefat Art Foundation (near Paarl), in support of artists.

Solo/Group Exhibitions: First solo exhibition in 1973. Represented SA in Sao Paulo, Brazil at the Biennale 1976; Cape Town Biennial 1979. Since then, many solo and group exhibitions held at various galleries locally, in Namibia and abroad. Principal invited artist at the 'Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunsfees', Oudtshoorn, 1997.
